The School operates three daily bus services to assist parents whose circumstances make it difficult for them to take their children to and from school each day. We operate the routes using our own vehicles and drivers.  The pick-up points and timings may vary from year to year, depending on who is using the service and it may be possible to add an extra stop if there is sufficient demand.

Pricing

Pupils can be booked onto the bus for one or more journeys each week at a cost of £5 per journey.  The pricing below relates to all bookings for the 2023/24 academic year onwards.

On arrival at school children will wait in Breakfast Club until morning registration. If you wish your child to have breakfast whilst waiting this is available at an additional cost and must be pre-booked. Breakfast is offered at the reduced rate of £2 per day.

Daily Return Journey

Bookings are made termly, and parents will be charged in arrears. Preference will be given to those who wish to use the service every day and parents need to commit to using the bus for the same journey each week. The bus cannot be used on an ad hoc basis

Children who already take the bus can make additional journeys if there is availability, and these will be charged at the daily rate. We are unable to offer refunds for unused journeys.

The cost is reviewed annually, and any increase is applied at the start of the academic year in September. Existing bookings will roll over to the next term, unless cancelled. How do I reserve a place on the bus?

What happens if my child is ill or not taking the bus one day?

If your child is booked to travel on the bus, then please ensure that you contact Reception and your child’s bus driver if your child is not going to use this service. Please note we are unable to offer refunds for unused journeys.

Can I book any additional journeys?

Additional journeys can be booked if there is availability, and these will be charged at the daily rate.

Where do the children meet the driver at the end of the school day?

Children who go on the school bus are escorted to the Prep Dining Hall at 3.50pm.

What is my child has a play date? Can they take a friend home with them on the bus?

Yes, if there is availability, we can book one off additional journeys for guests and these will be charged at the daily rate. We must receive written permission from the parents or guardians of the additional child travelling home. Please email the Reception Team on receptionprep@newlandhouse.net.

What happens if my child is returning late from a sport’s fixture?

We do not offer a late service for the school bus so please keep an eye on the sports calendar. If your child’s sports fixture is finishing after 3.50pm then alternative arrangements will need to be made for their collection.

Do you offer a sibling discount?

We do offer a reduced rate for siblings depending on the number of journeys taken. Please refer to the pricing list for details.

Do I need to rebook my child’s place on the bus each term?

No, all bookings will roll over into the subsequent term. If you wish to make any changes at the start of a new term, please contact the Reception Team on receptionprep@newlandhouse.net
