Igor Petricevic - Classical Guitar
Igor is a passionate and experienced classical guitarist and educator working across several schools in South West London. Originally from Croatia, he began his musical journey at the prestigious Varaždin High School of Music before earning his Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance and Austrian Guitar Teaching Certification from the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, Austria. While in Austria, Igor taught at several music schools and began performing internationally as one half of the award-winning classical guitar duo Duo Iris, gaining recognition for his expressive playing and chamber music sensitivity.
He later moved to the UK, where he completed a BMus (Hons) in Voice and Opera Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and obtained a PGCE and QTS in Secondary Music Education. His performance career includes collaborations with Bergen Opera, the BBC Philharmonic’s Learning Department, Opera North, and a recording for Naxos as a tenor. Despite his broad musical interests, classical guitar remains at the heart of his practice.
Igor is passionate about nurturing a love of music in young people and believes that classical guitar offers a unique pathway for students to develop discipline, creativity, and expressive confidence. His lessons are individually tailored to suit each pupil’s goals and learning style, with a focus on technique, musicality, and enjoyment. He runs a private studio in Croydon and has extensive experience preparing students for ABRSM, Trinity, and Rockschool exams—with a 100% pass rate.
